An overview of the Dust Bowl, with links to video interviews that give personal accounts of the living in the Dust Bowl in the 1930s: Read the overview and watch one or two of the videos.

Read the following letters, written by children, to Eleanor Roosevelt (wife of Depression-era president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt):

1. A plea for a bike, from an 8th grader from Missouri

2. A plea for money for clothing, from a 15-year old from New Jersey

3. A plea for money for refrigerator from a 16-year old from Massachussets

The New Deal was Roosevelt's plan to get the US out of the Great Depression. Watch the BrainPop (use same login info) on the New Deal. Take the quiz when you're done to check for understanding.
